Two weeks ago Matt Williams was told that the imobilizing disease that nearly took him away from his precious family five years ago had re-appeared. The words "multiple myeloma" were something that Matt and Gabey did not aniticipate to ever hear again, there they stood ready to reengage for the third time to fight a new battle.
Matt was first diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2011. Matt and his family spent almost a year and a half relocated in Seattle so that Matt could recieve treatment and eventually recover and be cured with an autologous stem cell transplant.
Five years have passed and here we are again, Matt's myeloma is back and this time very aggressive and debilitating. Matt has cancer throughout all of his bones, most predominantly in his femur, spine and skull. Matt has a very long road ahead of him. He will recieve more therapy and treatment regimens, he will be unable to work due to the how sick he will become and he will have to adhere to physical contraints due to how fragile his bones are. Matt may potentially have to go back and forth from kauai to Seattle for treatment throughout the next year.
Matt and Gabey have four beautiful daughters, three of which live with them in their home in Kauai. The financial burden of this illness will absolutely overwhelm this family. Gabey is a stay at home Mother and Matt will not be able to work due to his 1 year or more commitment to treatment. They will have no income during this time. Anything that can be contributed is appreciated, financial help, airline miles even meals or help with their daughters.
When God created Matt he wanted to put a man on this earth that would would exude faith and love, a friend and gracious kind person and a protective loving Father and Husband. This is exactly who Matt is. I know Matt has touched so many people in his life, please help in any way that you can. Matt is the rock in his family and they need to remain strong to encourage and motivate him. Lets rally around this family and be their strength to help them fight and overcome this disease.
