CBT for children & young people
Donation protected
I'm a primary teacher working across different mainstream schools in an SE London borough to support children with social, emotional or mental health needs, this photo shows what's in my bag...
Those picture books? They're all about fear, depression, loss or anger.
The cuddly toy IS cuddly but more importantly, its zipped mouth eats worries.
The feelings fan and cards are useful when words don't work.
The ooze tube is calming.
That apple isn't for the teacher; it's a stress ball.
In September, thanks to the generosity of donors on here and offline, I was able to take up my place to study for MSc in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for children and young people at the Anna Freud centre. Once trained, I will be able to offer CBT to the primary-aged children referred to the outreach service I work for. Free of charge, at school. But I'm a teacher. My pay has been frozen since 2010 and although fundraising pretty much covered the £4050 fee for the first year, I need to raise the same again if I am to do the second year.
The target on here doesn't reflect the complete cost (£2700 of the donations on here were made in time to fund the first year so I need £4050 on top of that) but I'm hopeful.
Every pound donated truly counts and I've been overwhelmed by the willingness of the Mummy's Gin Fund members who've sent me hundreds of £1 donations towards the course fees.
