All my life I, Christian “Blade” Reid, dreamed of playing college football. The thrill and awe I received from coaches as an athlete in little league set me on a destined path to be a high school star athlete guaranteed to receive college scholarships. I always had speed. My power was fearless. Digging my cleats into the turf gave me the opportunity to release and celebrate the sorrows, frustrations, and victories of growing up. Running plays gave me freedom. Football was my hope. Football was my peace. It kept me out of trouble and raised me to be a young man of determination and faith. Football made me somebody. I was destined for greatness! Blade Reid of Heritage High School was going places.
My story was re-written when I tore my ACL fall 2014 of my third letterman year. My future changed in an instant. I tried pushing through the injury and gave my all in attempts to play ball during my senior year, but the pain was great and surgery was necessary.
After my injury, college scholarships no longer seemed destined. How would I pay for college without a scholarship? How would my four younger siblings be motivated to attend college if I did not go? How would I be able to change my life for the better? More importantly, if I did not go to college how would my life change for the worse? I prayed and hoped and hoped and prayed that a school would honor the athleticism I showcased over the span of my career. I hoped I would be able to walk on a team during my freshman year of college and eventually receive a scholarship.
This fall I will be enrolled for classes at Darton State College as a business major. After a year of Darton I will transfer to Albany State University where I hope to redshirt as a Golden Ram. I am committed to succeed academically because my greatest desire is to invest back into the community that supported me throughout my youth.
Please help support my college education. I am a young man dedicated to hard work and perseverance. I desire to make a better life for myself and for my mom and siblings. I am currently working the night shift (11pm-7am) at Wal-Mart to support myself financially.

I am excited! I know college will give me the knowledge I needed to advance my entrepreneurial mind. I’ve always been a business man. Since I was five years old, I would always save my money from holidays and work. Growing up with four siblings, money was tight. Money is tight. My single mother works hard to provide for us, but paying for extra curricular activities such as football, cheerleading, and leadership conferences, is a major extra expense. We all have to work and save to help fund our future. Thank you to everyone in the gofundme community for investing in my future. I really appreciate it.
