We are Tim and Connie O'Connor. We are raising money to help offset the cancer treatment expenses for our very special dog, Bourbon. Bourbon's incredible story begins in the chaos of hurricane Katrina, and continues with a chain of people and events who helped bring out the best in this brilliant, dedicated dog.
His story is an inspiration to others who choose to rescue a dog and a reminder that every dog as special talents that, with time and training, can be a source of joy. Bourbon's is a story of hope and redemption...a story of an underdog who beat the odds again and again. He is an agility dog, a sidecar dog, a camper, and our dear friend. His sidecar antics make people smile everywhere we ride. He is brilliant and devoted.
Bourbon has been diagnosed with oral melanoma cancer and he has a chance to have effective treatment thanks to a new cancer vaccine along with radiation treatment and surgery. The vet bills and time off work is more than we can afford, an estimated 10+ thousand dollars. We thought we'd have many years still to come with him, but without help we might only have months. He has come so far....we can't bear the thought of having his life cut short.
With a cruel twist of fate, we lost a cat to oral cancer and our sweet therapy dog to brain cancer this year as well. We are still reeling from all those related expenses and loss. Ordinarily we wouldn't ask for help, but we are just tapped out.
We are hoping that this gofundme campaign could offset some of the expenses of getting Bourbon his treatments, which to be effective must start as soon as possible.
There's no way to express how much your help means to us. We have rescued many animals in our lives, but this is beyond what we do can alone. A community of people helped Bourbon become who he is today. We are hoping a community of people will save him again now. Please help if you can. Any amount will make a difference.
