Airam's Chronicles: Dialysis to Kidney Transplant

Hey there! My name is Maria Shade-Lee and I am fundraising for my niece, Airam and sister, Natasha.

Natasha is a single mother to Airam Michaeleigh. Airam is a survivor, who's battled life challenges since birth and continues to face them with courage and bravery. In August 2020, Airam visited the doctor for her 7th-grade immunizations. What seemed a routine visit quickly turned into another "battle to conquer" as we discovered Airam was experiencing end-stage renal failure. This was not only a shock to us all, as Airam's overall health seemed to be in a great place; but also a major setback as this would mean Airam would not be physically going to school any time soon.

Since the diagnosis Airam and Natasha have traveled, three (3) days a week, four (4) hours roundtrip to OU Children's hospital in Oklahoma City for dialysis treatments. Natasha immediately returns from each trip to go to work in the afternoons and every Saturday to maintain her full-time work status, ensuring she continues taking care of her family. Fast forward to July 2022, Airam was listed on the National Donor Registry (woohoo!!!) and a donor has come forward who is a confirmed match with Airam. So here we are, Airam's KIDNEY TRANSPLANT, (surgery #14) has been scheduled. The procedure is expected to occur the week of August 15th, then the healing journey begins.

We are seeking your help with monetary support, to help with provisions (shelter, food, medicine, and transportation) throughout this journey. Your donations, big or small, would mean Natasha and Airam would be able to maintain their current expenses while being off work for the next few months and residing in OKC, near the hospital, where Airam will recover.
