Caylin is a 14 yr old medical miracle, but this is truly a fight for her life.  As a preemie of 2lbs 9oz born at 29 weeks she has faced so many medical challenges and has been fighting for her life through every one, at 3 months of age she was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver, and in January of this year she went into liver failure.  On February 1st she was placed on the UNOS transplant list with a MELD score of 24, high max is 40, on March 5th she was admitted to UCLA with her release date for only after she gets a liver. As of today she has a MELD score of 37. The score is based on her blood levels in different ways, her liver, kidney, weight and so on.  Basically the sicker she and her liver get the higher the score and therefore the higher on the transplant list. No guarantee of a liver but a good chance.      Caylin and I finally got a home of own in May of 2018, with a yard she loves to garden and play in with her dog. It's our home we will lose now without the income I get for her IHSS  (In Home Supportive Services), this is my job to care for Caylin, bath her, feed her, change her diaper, give her medicine and so on.  This way we don't have to have a different stranger come into our home every day and stay  here to do these things.    But now because she is in a hospital bed instead of her own bed,  even though I drive 150+ miles round trip or spend 3 or 4 nights in a row when I am able to, and I do 95% of everything she needs done just like I do at home, such as change her diaper, monitor her feeds work with her GI team to adjust her feeds, give her a bath, brush her teeth, her hair,  just as I did at home.  I HAVE LOST MY INCOME,  now I  will lose my home,  my car, my ability to pay for gas to drive to UCLA to be with my girl, to care for her and to make sure she gets everything she needs to be able to receive a liver to save her life.    I have worked so hard and so long to be able to make a good life for my munchkin.
