Caylie's Directing The Narrative - Double Or Nothing

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Caylie Reilly, and I’m reaching out to share my passion for filmmaking and ask for your support in bringing my vision to life.

I’m originally from New Jersey but now live in Savannah, GA, where I’m pursuing my BFA degree at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Film and TV, as well as a minor in Production Design. Over time, I’ve transitioned from mainly working as a Production Designer to stepping into the director's chair. This film, Double or Nothing, will be the first narrative short that I’m directing entirely on my own, based on a story that came from my heart.

This film is for my Directing the Narrative class at SCAD, and we’re on a tight schedule to reach our goal. My passion for filmmaking has always kept me going, and I’m lucky to have an amazing crew and friends by my side who can make anything happen with the drive and creativity we all share.

This film is not only a Directing The Narrative, but a Production Design Thesis! Owen Grubb the Production Designer is a Senior at SCAD pursuing his degree in Production Design and minor in Music Composition. Owen is not only the one building and creating the world of this film but he is also Composing music to enhance the visuals! This film could not be possible without him and his creative eye.

I’m raising money to help cover the costs of filming Double or Nothing, which will be shot on May 2 & 3. This film is Production Design-heavy, as we’re transforming a blank room into a 1950s pool table room set in the back of a speakeasy, and every detail needs to be just right to transport our audience into that world.

The logline:
A young outsider finds himself in a high-stakes pool match against the owner of a speakeasy—only realizing too late that he’s not just playing for bragging rights, but for a chance with the owner’s daughter.

The summary of the story:
Inside the dimly lit backroom of an upscale speakeasy, two men face off over a game of pool. The older man, Vincent, exudes effortless sophistication—his tailored vest, wire-rim glasses, and measured demeanor make him a stark contrast to the brash, preppy Eddie, who doesn’t quite belong in this world. Lena, a poised yet warm server, enters with a tray of drinks from the bar, catching Eddie’s attention. He jokes, flirts, and wonders aloud how to get her number. Vincent remains composed, simply remarking that he’d have to win first. It’s only when the stakes become clear that Eddie realizes Vincent isn’t just any opponent—he’s Lena’s father, and the owner of the bar. Now, the game isn’t just about pride. It’s about proving he belongs.
As the match progresses, Eddie’s confidence is tested. Quick cuts and whip pans intensify the rhythm, mirroring the jazz underscoring the scene. Vincent barely speaks, but his few words cut deep, suggesting Eddie will never fit into their world. But Eddie, stubborn and reckless, keeps pushing. The game builds to its final shot—a moment of unbearable tension—before the cue ball rolls to its inevitable fate.

Your support, whether it’s through a donation or by simply sharing this campaign, would mean so much to me. Thank you for helping me bring Double or Nothing to life and for being a part of this exciting journey!
