May 7th 2022 Caylani Sturrup was born with a Congenital Hemangioma. Prior to birth we had no knowledge of this non-cancerous tumor on her eye/cheek. May 31st 2022 Caylani underwent surgery where they removed the top portion so she could start to use and see out of her left eye. We continued with our follow up appointments and since day 1 we had heard this tumor would not grow. We have since found a support group on facebook and after speaking with many parents we reached out to the Vascular Birthmark Institute in New York. They looked at her photos and MRI’s and recommended we do a telemed phone call and proceed with plans for us to come there for surgery. Between airfare and hotel stay and paying for a portion of the surgery due to it not being covered by insurance, we can’t afford it on our own.
