Caydie’s chiari malformation surgery
Donation protected
Hi everyone. On December 22nd, caydie went in for a “routine” MRI, as she was misdiagnosed with carpal tunnel and they wanted to look into it further. On December 26th the results came back and were clearly not carpal tunnel, but instead a severe herniation into her spinal cord, also known as Chiari Malformation. The doctors also found something called a Syrinx, a fluid filled cyst in the spinal cord, a couple herniated discs and a lot of pressure on the brain stem and cord causing severe discomfort. Caydie has been dealing with this chronic pain, migraines, limb numbness and nerve issues for a few years now and has finally found a doctor with answers. The size of the herniation and syrinx will require a subocciptial craniectomy and cervical 1&2 laminectomy. Before the surgery there are several MRIs, CT scans and ultra sounds that need to be completed and the co-pays alone are adding up. On a single income, working in education, it would be so helpful to take a bit of financial burden off of caydie to provide some stress relief. She will need an extensive amount of time off of work after surgery. She will be having surgery at Jacobs medical center at UCSD in April. If you feel inclined to donate, or share some kind words, I know caydie would be so grateful. Thank you for taking the time to read, let’s get our girl healed!
