Hi, my name is Jessica . I am the fiancée to the late Cayden Carfrae (aka Caid Jones).
Driven by an unwavering belief in the transformative power of music, Cayden channeled his creative energy into a force for positive change. His devotion to community outreach, advocacy for Indigenous voices in business, and unwavering commitment to social justice illuminated his path.
Beyond the stage, Cayden also dedicated himself to nurturing emerging talent, as well as mentoring and guiding youth. Under his guidance, youth from many Canadian reserves found their voices, crafting songs and videos that celebrated cultural identity, resilience, language, love and the journey to self-acceptance.
“I want to be able to share my story and let them know that, “Hey, these things are overcomable. You can get past them with the correct tools, you can get past them with the correct knowledge. You can get past it with your heart in the right place.” - Cayden Carfrae
Ultimately he lost his life while in Thunder Bay for work.
My intention is to be able to hold a sacred fire for my partner during the time of the preliminary hearings which will be taking place from the 27th until the 31st.
I’ve partnered with a local group called Community204 to make this possible. They’re helping me with location for the sacred fire and fire keepers.
I’m calling out to community members for assistance with donations for fire wood. With it being this cold out I expect the wood to burn quickly. If you’re able to donate funds or wood that would be greatly appreciated!
If there is wood left over my intention is to donate it to the organization Community204 to support their efforts in keeping our unhoused relatives warm during these brutally cold days .
Hiy Hiy, thank you for your continued support.
