My name is Michael and I am a married father of three, and a truck driver. I was fortunate enough to marry my soulmate, and the love of my life, Cayce.
Recently, Cayce was diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer With lymph node involvement, in addition to breast cancer.
She has already begun chemo, taking the first steps in what will be a long journey of IV medications, radiation, and surgeries.
I am blessed enough to have a decent job with insurance, but the cost of that is my being away for up to five days at a time during the week. My mother lives in town and has been a great support to us thus far, but she is also 70 years old and has a myriad of medical problems herself. All of Cayce‘s appointments occur during the week and I am only home on the weekends.
As with most people, we live within our means but generally little more than week to week. The federal government through the FMLA guarantees me time off to take care of a sick loved one, but that leave is unpaid. This fundraising effort is an attempt to gain the funds necessary to survive several months of living expenses, medications, and copayment for the treatments and surgeries Cayce will have to undergo during that time.
A cursory search will show that I have very little social media presence. I try not to become embroiled in the divisive issues so prevalent online and I have never really considered the things I do to be important to other than a small number of people. However, my beautiful wife Cayce is the most important thing in the world to me along with my children. She is kind, generous, funny, a tremendous mother, and too many other adjectives for this to be anything less than a novel. We are in a desperate and stressful time right now and I feel my energies and support can be best used at home., But as the sole breadwinner that is impossible without humbling myself to the world and asking for help.
Any generosity will be met with the utmost and sincere gratitude. Thank you so much for your time.
