Help get Cayo animals spayed and neutered

Donation protected
We have another group of visiting veterinarians coming from February 14-23! Our work continues and we need your support to help with the next round of spay and neuter clinics in the outlying Cayo villages.

Last month's clinics were a great success! The visiting veterinarians  and vet techs from Foundation for Veterinary Aid International  came for four days and spayed or neutered more than 230 animals at the Santa Elena Sports Complex. It was a wonderful team effort.   Now, the work continues when two US vets come to travel around the outlying Cayo villages so more locals can bring their animals to get spayed and neutered.

With your help, we'll be able to  get to animals in need in  smaller, outer villages in Cayo including Bullet Tree, Benque, Cristo Rey and the Unitedville/Georgeville areas.

The Cayo Animal Welfare Society  is passionate about improving the lives of animals in the western communities of Belize. We are a group of volunteers doing our best with limited resources to compassionately and responsibly create a more humane world for animals.

Anyone who lives here in Cayo or who has visited has seen the many dogs and cats roaming our streets.  Most of those animals are not spayed or neutered and the overpopulation of dogs and cats has devastating consequences.  Animals are starving,  suffering from diseases and often abused . There's a dire need in Cayo to get dogs and cats spayed and neutered so that more animals don't have to suffer that fate.  We do what we can to rescue them all, but we need your help.

Funds raised here will subsidize the spay and neuter clinics for those who can't afford it and help pay the cost of food and more for the many volunteers we'll need to help those animals and  decrease the population of animals who may wind up starving, diseased or worse in Cayo.  We'll use your generous donations for Vet permits, supplies, food and rentals for the February mobile clinics .

We thank you so much for your help in making lives better for Cayo's animals.  It will go a long way in our mission to make sure we can get all of Cayo's animals into  the safe, loving homes they deserve.

Matching donation alert! Some of our dogs and cats find homes in Belize but others get to fly all the way to Canada and the US to enjoy their new lives in a loving home there. One lucky "potlicker" family are The Stewarts in Vancouver.  They and their company, AMJ Campbell, have generously offered to match any donations here up to $5000 CA ($3,750) US.

They just threw a birthday party for their rescue dog from Cayo and say,

“Both of our family dogs are from  Belize and we can’t imagine life without them. But there are countless homeless and suffering animals there and we want to do what we can to help CAWS. The best way to do that is to help fund these clinics and break the cycle of so many unwanted cats and dogs.”

Thank you Stewart family and thank you all for helping our animals!
