CAWA TEAACH ACT BOOK DRIVE

Tax deductible
UPDATE:

We would like to inform you that our book drive fundraising campaign has concluded with tremendous success. In total, over five thousand were raised, surpassing our goal! Thank you for your generous support of the Illinois TEAACH Act!

Your overwhelming support affirms our belief that Asian American history IS American history and that it is high time we include Asian American history in the curriculum of our public schools. Illinois is the first state to pass the TEAACH Act – be proud that you have joined CAWA in this chapter of history.

The amount we have raised will enable us to purchase more than 300 books relating to Asian American history, contribution and experiences. They will go on to the library shelves of our local schools to advance cross-cultural understanding, build bridges and counter anti-Asian hate sentiment.

We are humbled and encouraged by the community’s support on our mission toward an inclusive society where everyone feels that they belong.  Thank you!

YOU can be part of history!
Put books about Asian Americans in school libraries to fight anti-Asian hate and to advance cross-cultural understanding for all students.

Please donate $20 for one book, $40 for two, $100 for five, or any amount to show that you care.  Your generosity is critical in helping us reach our goals of $4,000 to purchase and donate at least 200 books to the schools.  CAWA  is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  Your donation is tax-exempt.

Asian American history IS American history!  Illinois is the first in the nation to pass a law requiring the teaching of Asian American history at all public schools.  Teaching Asian American history will dispel stereotypes of Asian Americans as perpetual foreigners, improve cross-cultural education for all students and achieve a sense of belonging for all.

Chinese American Women in Action is supporting the TEAACH Act by making sure students and teachers at our local schools will have ample resources on books that tell Asian American history, contributions made by Asian Americans, and experiences as Asian Americans. We invite you to be the FIRST to show support to our children, grandchildren, and the communities by stocking the school libraries and classrooms with these books.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for all of us to work together for the future of our next generation to demonstrate that we are inclusive, collaborative, and determined.  Most of all, we are empowered and engaged to make our nation a better place for everyone.
