We’re Ben and Vanessa, owners and operators of Bouldin Food Forest, a sustainable vegetable farm in Rogers, Texas. We’re at the Texas Farmers Market in Austin every Sunday, and we also sell our produce to Wheatsville Co-Op and Austin restaurants. A powerful storm on Sept. 24, 2023, destroyed five of our seven greenhouse tunnels we use for growing produce year-round — to shield them from sun, cold and high winds, especially during hard freezes and ice storms that are increasingly common in our part of Texas. But the tunnels were no match for a powerful storm with tornado-like winds that blew through our area . Damage is in the tens of thousands. They were structures we bought with the farm’s profits over the course of several years. We’re asking for help to replace 1-2 of them and get us back on our feet in time for winter.
