Hello. My name is Jari Bradley and I am in the last semester of my Master's program in Ethnic Studies at San Francisco State University, where I have been awarded the Graduate Student Award for Distinguished Acheviement from the College of Ethnic Studies. I have applied and been accepted to four MFA programs across the country, of which I will be attending the University of Pittsburgh in the Fall on full scholarship. I have also recently been accepted to the presitgious writing retreat/fellowship Cave Canem, taking place at the University of Pittsburgh, Greensburg Campus in Greensburg, PA: http://cavecanempoets.org/retreat/
With all of this abudance after having to shoulder a majority of graduate application fees on my own, I am finding myself in need of my community to help support my future goals.

As a black queer San Francisco native, I have never lived outside of California. This transition to the East Coast is not only huge for me as an individual, but also reflects the tremendous growth I have acheived as part of such a rich and vibrant community of artists, activists, and educators in the Bay Area. The Bay has raised me to pursue my ambitions to the fullest extent and I am now taking all the strength and resilence I have been immersed in via the West Coast to the University of Pittsburgh and Cave Canem.

While gearing up for graduation and finalizing my Master's thesis, it has been extremely hard for me to ask for assitance and I am currently in a place where I cannot continue to shoulder the costs of this immense transition alone. I am nothing without my community and feel confident that with your support, I can make this transition without becoming financially destitute. This is where I need your help to be able to succesfully move to the next incredible chapter of my career, as often times the lack of money and other resources among black queer scholars/artists such as myself purposefully prevent us from attending institutions historically designed in opposition to our existence.

Cave Canem (airfare): $500
Moving Costs (Deposit for Housing+Airfare): $2,500
