Caution: HOT! will premiere at HERE Arts Center, October 5th-7th 2023! Stay tuned for a link to ticket sales.
As part of the Sublet Series at HERE, companies can use the space but we must provide all staff. This includes:
•lighting designer
•light board operator
•sound board operator
•multiple technicians to hang lights
•usher
This is in addition to raising money to pay the 7 dancers and the composer. Are you able to support this amazing project and all of the talented artists involved? Aiming to change perceptions and rally support, Caution:HOT! is an important work that needs financial support.
Integrating dance, theatricality, original music and fantastical costumes, Caution: HOT! is a live performance that de-stigmatizes the reproductive cycles of a body— including the most ignored life stage, menopause— normalizing the common experiences that have shamed people with reproductive bodies for generations. They're shamed when they menstruate, when they want or need abortions, when they miscarry and when their periods stop. How did a reproductive body become so ridiculed and how can art help diminish the stigma? Through a multi-media performance that will utilize both drama and humor, this production will fully display all of the hardships, secrets, symptoms and stories of the mysterious reproductive body.
We lost part of an artist stipend and the ability to sell tickets this past May resulting in a heftier goal than anticipated. Our goal of $8000 is the minimum needed to cover this creative process.
RDT’s ultimate goal is to create art that contributes to dismantling the patriarchy, gender norms, social constructs and stereotypes. Part of that work should also include paying the women in our projects equitably.
We are in the process of applying for grants, but knowing how competitive they are to obtain, we are reaching out to friends, potential producers and private donors. Can you help us create this exciting project?
Great art deserves fair pay.
