Twelve wind industry apprentices from GEV Wind Power and RWE are taking part in the #HumberToHamburg challenge, an 8-day sail across the North Sea and back to raise money for charity.
Departing from the UK, the voyage has been timed to coincide with WindEnergy Hamburg 2026, held in Hamburg, Germany, providing an opportunity to showcase the industry's future talent on an international stage while highlighting the role apprenticeship programmes play in supporting the continued growth of renewable energy.
The team will experience life aboard a 72ft high-performance racing yacht, where communication, trust, problem-solving and collaboration are essential to every aspect of the experience. It is an opportunity to build lasting professional networks and strengthen relationships that will support the future of the UK's wind energy workforce.
Want to join us in making a difference? We're raising money for the CatZero charity, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to us.
More information about CatZero: Founded in 2009, CatZero is an independent Humber-wide charity delivering life-changing personal development programmes for people of all ages, including children, young people, families, veterans and unemployed adults.
Many participants join at a point of crisis, out of work or disengaged from education. CatZero provides a pathway to break this cycle, helping people into employment, education or training while improving health, wellbeing and community engagement.
Many thanks. GEV Apprentices :)
