Hi everyone,
I’m creating this fundraiser on behalf of Catstoria Cat Rescue, an incredible small rescue that has saved some of the most vulnerable cats in Astoria, NY, ran by Alexia Vullis.
Catstoria Cat Rescue Inc. 501c3 specifically specializes in Rescue and Trap, Neuter, Release (TNR). With a team of volunteers, they also run a cat house called Kitty Haven. This is where cats recover from illness & surgeries and can live until they are adopted. Their main focus is kitten rescue, dumped house cats, and sick & injured ferals.
Catstoria also has a place in my heart. Two of my own cats, Matisse and Penelope, came from them. Matisse was found abandoned in a building and Penelope was pulled from a storm drain. I don't even want to think about what might have happened if Catstoria didn't exist.
For the past four years, Catstoria has operated Kitty Haven. It has been a safe, stable home for cats who had nowhere else to go. Volunteers come to help maintain the space, doing things such as cleaning and socializing. Cats were playing or resting. It's an amazing place, but now it's in trouble.
The building they currently operate in is being sold. They’ve been told they must vacate in three months, and they have no new location lined up. Unfortunately the timeline is fixed and they cannot extend or negotiate.
Who Catstoria Cares For
Catstoria dedicates a lot of their time and resources to cats others cannot take:
- Sick cats
- Senior ferals
- Hospice cats
- Skittish kittens and terrified young adults
- Ferals
They need time, space, and patient humans to help them, and Catstoria has always provided this.
What This Fundraiser Will Support
All donations will go directly to Catstoria and will be used for:
- Securing a safe replacement space (warehouse, commercial unit, or suitable apartment)
- Paying moving costs and necessary setup
- Ensuring the cats remain safe, sheltered, fed, and cared for throughout the transition
