Send a Kid to Irish Arts Week
Many of us grew up attending the Catskills Irish Arts Week in East Durham, NY, where we got to meet our heroes in Irish music, attend classes, and hang out with friends from around the country and indeed the world. Over the years, the community at CIAW has become an important part of our lives and a week that we look forward to every year.
Now we're creating a kids' scholarship to help others attend the week.
Each scholarship will be free for the recipient and include full tuition, room, and board. (Thanks to Dale at the Blackthorne for his help.) Parents will also be covered by the room and board. The cost to fund each scholarship will be around $1000, varying slightly with age, a little less for a younger child in the kids' program, and a bit more for a teenager with adult tuition.
All money raised will go to the scholarships, and if we raise more than $1000, that means we'll be able to offer more than one. The scholarships will be open to anyone under 18 and free to enter.
So:
February 2016: Raise funds
March 2016: Open entries for the drawing - anyone under 18 can enter. We'll publicize and let everyone know once the drawing opens.
Late March 2016: Random drawing and scholarship(s) awarded
July 10-16, 2016: Attend CIAW
Thanks for your support and we're excited to give some lifelong experiences to a lucky kid (or a few).
