Kitty Needs Lifesaving Treatment
OUR CAT IS IN THE DARK AND SO ARE WE.
This is Hephner. He is six years old and easily the best cat we've ever had - or met. And the competition is fierce. He’s a lover, but tough as nails.
The day he arrived from the shelter, our dog tried to kill him, but instead came away with a bloody nose. Now they’re the best of friends, they touch noses and stand guard at the entrance way together, as watch cat and dog.
Our middle son hated cats until Hephner came to live with us. Now he loves one cat.
For the past three months, Hephner’s been sick with what appeared to be an upper respiratory obstruction, causing noisy breathy and nasal discharge. Two weeks ago, he was struck blind, due to inflamation of his optic nerve. 
Despite empirical treatment with an assortment of medications, a slew of tests, diagnostic proceedures, x-rays and consultations with specialists, no one knows yet what the inflamation is from.
He needs imaging (CAT Scan, MRI) a nasal scope, spinal tap, sonogram and additional tests that could go to $5000. We've already spent about $2000 over the course of three months. You may be wonder, why bother?
Well, currently, he is being treated for a fungal infection. If that proves to be the culprit, with definitive care, it could be curable and his sight could be restored.
And he doesn't act like a sick cat. He seems comfortable. His appetite is hearty , his pee and poohs (and p's and q's) are regular. His vitals and cbc are fine. He's only 6 and we could have him with us for at least another 10 plus years.
He can still purr and gets around the house (and the dog) despite not having smell available to help his blindness. He hasn’t lost his vitality or personality - he’s still the same cat he always was.
As it is, we can't afford it, but we don’t want to lose this cat. We love him with all our hearts. We would be eternally grateful for whatever you could spare towards his medical care and getting him back on his paws.
