Hi I'm Cat, in 2009 I was diagnosed with M.E and then a Fibromyalgia diagnosis came in 2017.

Since then my health and mobility to the point where I've needed to take ill health retirement from my career in NHS, discovered that I am in 5% of M.E patients who will never recover and only deteriorate.

I rely heavily on my family, private treatments, I'm unable to walk for a distance, lost a lot of my cognative skills and told I will be lucky to see 55. That gives me 11yrs. I'm rarely out doing social activities and if I do I need a multitude of medication, walking aids, wheelchair, sensory protection and I cant be at an activity for long. Most of the general activities I used to enjoy have come to an end, and anything I do like doing needs adaptations or is something that can be done from bed.

The one thing I've been fortunate enough to receive is a mobility car, but due to my deterioration and my wheelchair not fitting, I now need to up grade.

Mobility.com as a whole are unable to help with upfront costs, and though there is a mobility Foundation, who have been incredibly unhelpful with suggesting unsuitable car's that are smaller than what I already have and are not taking my needs and symptoms into consideration. I feel I have been hitting walls.

After going to a Mobility car show in May 2025, I found the Hyundai Tuscan was the best model for me and my needs. This comes with the added space in the boot to fit a hoist for my wheelchair.

Sadly, this all comes at a price upfront fee. £3999 for the car, £650 for the hoist and £250 to break the contract of the mobility car I already have. £5000, something I do not have.

I'm looking for assistance from wherever I can get it just to make life easier and to remain independent.
