cats in caravans

Hello my name is Jude and I moved to the French Pyrenees in October 2019 where I am setting up a smallholding and bed and breakfast with my partner.

I love cats and one of the first things we did was to take a litter of three kittens from a neighbour.

There is a problem with cats in the commune of Libaros in that a lot of people don't neuter their animals so the village is overun. Therefore it is difficult to find homes for kittens. Some of the strays move into the nearby forests and I am sad to say that the local huntsmen have been known to shoot them regarding them as a pest and a threat to woodland wildlife.

On December 23rd a stray cat "Eyelash" turned up at our door and never really left.

She had a set of four kittens in May and we were lucky enough to house two with neighbours.

However the kittens and their maman have had eye issues and we have had to take them to the vet to be treated which is expensive. Also their are no animal charities that pay for neutering so we need to fund this too.

Our original three cats do not like the new cat and her kittens and so they have been living in our old camper van in the garden.

However maman cat has become pregnant again and can no longer tolerate living with her first set of kittens.

We took her to a vet who said we can bring the mother in to be sterilised when her new kittens are three weeks old.

Anyway where to house the new kittens?

This is when I had the idea for Cats in Caravans.

I would like to purchase second hand "Catavans" to house the strays in and provide shelter.

So I am asking for donations to fund caravans and vet bills because we will need to pay for all the kittens and their mother to be sterilised aswell as food.

As I mentioned it is unlikely I will be able to rehome the kittens so we will look after them as best as we can.

I have unwittingly become the mad cat lady of the village.
