Cathy’s Rehabilitation Fund
Donation protected

Cathy had a stroke and subarachnoid brain hemorrhage on 23rd September 2018 as a result of a ruptured brain aneurysm after the “worst headache in her life“ which only came on five minutes prior. She battled for life for a few days and now continues to fight to get things back to the way they always were.
Cathy is paralyzed on the right side due to the stroke and as a result is now in a wheelchair. Cathy also has speech and communication difficulties as a result of the damage caused from the bleed, which is medically known as aphasia. She has learned to swallow, talk, laugh and feed herself (with her bad hand) with the help of visits from her family, friends, neighbours and the rehab team in Beaumont hospital but in St James in particular, where she currently is. Cathy’s difficulties currently are with her communication and physically, thankfully the witty, intelligent and headstrong Cathy is still there behind these barriers.
Cathy has come a long way, and has a long road ahead as she fights to get back to normal and we fight to get her the rehabilitation she deserves. At the moment this is our biggest battle.

Any moneys raised from fundraising will go towards the costs of rehabilitation that we come up against on this journey with speech and language, physiotherapy, and occupational therapists as well as getting suitable facilities at home in Palmerstown and also to hopefully get a wheelchair suitable car so that we can get Cathy around.
Thanks,

Cathy, Niamh, Colm, Kyran, her extended family, friends, and neighbours ❤️
