Cathy's Battle Against Cancer

As some of you may know, most of you may not know and no one ever wants to admit it will happen to them or someone they love so dearly. My mother has been recently diagnosed with a very rare form of stage 3 t4 (to get technical) vaginal cancer. As vaginal cancer grows at a very slow rate, unknowinlgy she's probably had it for years with no symptoms at all. Having been given a hysterectomy years ago, doctors no longer recommend pap tests. Until recently when she had a set of events that made the cancer known LOUD and CLEAR. It was as if she went from 100% to -100 overnight. You always hear these stories about how someone is so healthy one day and then so ill the next and you think how can that possibly happen? Well that is exactly what happened to my mom. The woman who's the most selfless, caring, loving human being. With a smile that lights up a room, a sense of humour that will have you in stitches and the ability to love a complete stranger as her own. A person who loves life so much!
As we began to wrap our heads around this and the initial diagnosis, we've been busy on countless trips all over the mainland and vancouver island doing multiple tests, scans and biopsies. The cancer has now shown itself and been detected in six different locations. As she will be starting her treatment this week being given the highest dose of chemotherapy and radiation five days a week for six weeks straight. We ask you all send positive thoughts her way. After her six weeks of treatment they will reasses her situation and if the treatments did not work she will be sent to the Kelowna cancer clinic for internal radiation.
As we all know financial stress is one of the worst kinds we are hoping to help alleviate some of that for her by doing this. So she can focus on her battle. As thousands of dollars have already been spent and the cost of travel, accomodations, medications etc. will only continue and her recovery time will most likely be lengthy we ask that you please help on my Mother's long, hard journey and the fight for her life.
