Help Montessori Private Academy build the "Cathy Prokop Play Garden."
Help Montessori Private Academy (MPA) create a lasting legacy for our beloved teacher, Cathy Prokop. Cathy passed away February 17, 2019.
We want to celebrate her life and her dedication to young children by fulfilling one of her dreams for the Young Child Program at MPA. Any amount is appreciated to honor Cathy’s legacy.
Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to us.
Cathy started at Montessori Private Academy in 2009. Her job was to create a new program called The Young Child Program. It was the only Montessori class for two year old students in the Rockford area. Cathy had a natural gift for working with young children.
At MPA, Cathy worked tirelessly to create the healthy, educational, and beautiful environment the Young Child program is today. She was always looking for ways to improve the classroom and materials. Because of that dedication, most years that program has a lengthy wait list.
During Cathy's tenure, her big dream was to create a green space including trees, flowers and grass for these young students. And most of all she wanted a play structure large enough for all her students to use at the same time. Little by little she added improvements but eventually simply needed more space.
In 2015, Cathy was diagnosed with colon cancer. This news was devastating, but Cathy remained positive. Unfortunately, Cathy’s dream to create a larger green space and large play structure for her beloved students was never fulfilled. She died February 17th, 2019.
To honor her memory, Montessori Private Academy has set out to help achieve Cathy’s dream. Please help us create this memorial in her honor. Thank you.
