On Tuesday May 25th, my 21 year old niece suffered a massive heart attack. The extent of damage to her heart most would not have survived. After hours in the Cath lab in her home town of Rockford, IL , she was air lifted to a transplant center 3 hrs away. Since this time, she has been placed on full ECMO support ( heart and lung), suffered a small stroke and remains on a ventilator. They are attempting to wake her up from sedation and discovered she is having seizures. Her only hope is to regain enough healing in her Lungs and wake up enough from sedation to evaluate the impact of the stroke to be placed on the organ donor list to receive a new heart. Her heart is damaged beyond repair and this young lady is fighting for her life .
The doctors do not know the cause. They can't find any risk factors that lead to this near fatal event.
My sister lives on a single income and resides in AZ. She immediately flew to Malorie's bedside and is praying for a miracle.. Due to the extra living expenses of being away from her source of income and resident here in AZ, she needs help to stay at the bedside of her daughter while they fight this "war" this is what the doctors relate the fight to restore Malorie's health enough to be eligible for a new heart.
You can imagine the fear and uncertainty my sister is facing, anything you can do to lessen the financial burden for her to remain at her daughters bedside is appreciated.
There is a separate go fund me and goes directly to the father and his wife for living expenses ( just in case you see the cross reference ) . This campaign is to assist my sister in the extra lodging and living expenses while they await Malorie's heart transplant.
