In Loving Memory of Cathy Deguzman a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister. I am fundraising for my brother-in-law Alex DeGuzman and his family.

In 2021, Cathy was diagnosed with breast cancer. As she did with everything in life, she fought with passion and perseverance. Always looking for the positive and never allowing this diagnosis to bring her down or hold her back. Her family and friends watched as she battled this disease and through it all pushed on continuously with a zest for life and a smile on her face.
In May of 2023, Cathy was faced with yet again another tragic diagnosis. The disease had spread and she now had to go through surgery to remove a brain tumour. Like her previous diagnosis, she went through the brain surgery and started her road to recovery like this was just another bump in the road. Within weeks she was back to her happy place in the kitchen cooking meals for her family. In a very short time the aggressive cancer continued to spread and made things very difficult for Cathy. In true form, she kept pushing until it became something she could no longer manage. This dreadful disease took her life too soon, she is survived by her three children (Mateo, Isabella and Christian) and her loving husband (Alex) who are all heartbroken by this tragic passing.

Cathy loved life and she was a shinning light in the lives of her three children and husband. The sudden loss of their beloved mother and wife has left this family grappling with unimaginable grief and uncertainty. Cathy was a constant source of love, strength, and support. She worked tirelessly to provide them with a nurturing and stable environment, striving to give them the best opportunities in life.

Anyone who knew Cathy knew how great of a powerhouse she was. She made sure she was heard and felt by those around her. Her love for her family was unwavering. From supporting her husband with his business, teaching her daughter to drive, helping her son with university and always organizing each family function to keep the family together when it mattered.

She was a true Hockey MOM. She was always the loudest in the stands, never missed an opportunity to make sure the referee knew they made a bad call and was always there to lend a helping hand. She managed the team finances, became team manager and was always researching and locking in development opportunities for her sons to make sure they were given every possible edge.

we have created this GoFundMe campaign to extend a helping hand to Cathy’s family in their time of profound need. The funds raised will be dedicated to helping the family with daily financial needs, educational purposes and memorial services

We humbly request your support and generosity during this incredibly difficult time. Cathy’s spirit will forever live on in the hearts of all her family and friends. Through our collective efforts, we can ensure her legacy continues to shine brightly and a beacon to her children.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Gloria Cordeiro, Nancy Cordeiro and Jessica Cuna
