Dear Family & Friends,

We started this Go Fund Me Account for our mother, Catalina Corralejo AKA Cathy, or Cat. In early February 2023, my mom had to be taken via ambulance to a local hospital and then transferred to UC Davis. At UC Davis she was receiving many different treatments to figure out what was happening. She was unable to move, or speak and would hardly even be awake. When we thought she was getting better a major setback would happen. Her kidneys also started to fail, at the moment she was unable to do a lot of functions that she used to. Slowly treatments started to work and she has now been moved to a hospital that offers long-term care. She is working with a physical/speech therapist to get her moving and talking again. She is still really only able to communicate through writing and is still very limited, it will be a while for her to get back to where she used to be before this. Right before she was hospitalized my mom was promoted to a lead position. She is a single mother of 4 daughters and has always prided herself on being able to care for/be there for us by working hard. She has always been the head of her household and now is unable to work. My mom is the type of person that will always do for others before herself, she doesn’t complain and she is always the fun person in the room. Her mother, daughters, siblings, co-workers, and friends are truly lost without Cathy. She means so much to all those that know her. She is mine and my sister's best friend wherever we are or go she would be right there with us. Family events now are the hardest because she is the piece that is missing. We all want her to get healthy and back home to us. There have been countless prayers and well wishes which are tremendously appreciated by everyone. My sisters and I work and are doing all that we can to keep up with bills for rent/house expenses, our finances, as well as keeping up with other finances that my mom has so that she doesn't have to worry and can rest when she is finally home. Without her, we did lose a big source of income and we also do not know what kind of care my mom will require once she is released and we may need to take time off work when the time comes for her to come home to be there for her. There are so many unknowns and with so much to worry about, money should not be one of them. If you are willing to donate funds just know, it is a noble cause and we would truly appreciate it.
