Catherine is currently in the Critical Care Unit Intensive Care at Medical City Hospital in Plano Texas. Catherine lives and works in Weatherford Texas which is west of the Fort Worth TX. She is married to Christopher Yanker who is a Lutheran Pastor supporting a church in Wichita Falls, TX.
This past Sunday morning August 25th Catherine was taken by ambulance to Medical City Hospital in Weatherford due to severe pain in her right leg. She was immediately admitted and assessed with a significant bacterial infection. Her blood pressure was alarmingly low and she was having trouble communicating. She was transferred by medical transport to Medical City Hospital in Plano Texas Critical Care Unit Trauma Center. The Dr.'s recommended surgery and she had her first surgery Sunday night. Three teams of Dr.'s are working with her. Critical Care Dr., Infectious Disease Dr., and Trauma Surgeon Team of Dr.'s.
On Tuesday Catherine had her leg amputated. The Surgeons said the surgery went as expected. The next steps have been to monitor the wound and other infectious areas and pray that the multiple antibiotics she is on knock out the rest of the bacteria without the need for additional surgeries. Catherine will need further surgery on leg to close up the amputated leg once the wound heals - several weeks out.
Catherine currently continues to be in the Critical Care Unit. She has not yet woken up. Her vitals are good and they will be transferring her to a Long Term Acute Care Hospital. We are working towards relocating her to St. Louis where she will be closer to family. This will require air ambulance transportation. All of this has caused significant Medical Expenses.
Several of her friends have requested that we set up a Go Fund Me account so that they can help support Catherine with her significant medical expenses. Medical Bills add up very quickly.
