Catherine Lord : victime accident

La soirée du 14 mai dernier, trois jeunes filles d’une même famille âgées de 14 à 19 ans, ont tenté de traverser la route par le biais d’un passage à piéton muni d’un arrêt obligatoire lorsqu'un conducteur « distrait » n'a pas arrêté et a frappé deux des filles à une vitesse excédent la limite, selon les témoins. 

La fille de 19 ans a souffert de blessures relativement mineures : brûlures d'asphalte et deux foulures. Sa sœur de 16 ans, Catherine, finissante à l'école le Triolet dans la cohorte 2018, n'a pas été aussi chanceuse. 

À la suite de l'impact, Catherine souffre actuellement de blessures très graves et une forte possibilité de séquelles pour le restant de sa vie. Parmi ses blessures : fracture ouverte au pied droit, 2 fractures du bassin, jambe (péroné) cassée et 3 fractures ouvertes au pied gauche toujours avec la possibilité de subir l'amputation.

Depuis l'accident, Catherine a subi 5 interventions chirurgicales sous anesthésie générale avec plusieurs autres à venir. Son rêve d'être sauveteur à la piscine cet été a été écrasé avec l'impact du véhicule. Elle ne retrouvera probablement jamais l'utilisation complète de son pied gauche. 

Soutenons Catherine et sa famille dans cette épreuve! Si chaque personne donne 2$ nous aurons un beau cadeau à remettre à cette demoiselle afin qu'elle puisse poursuivre ses rêves suite aux nouveaux défis devant elle. 

Parmi les choses à réaliser pour Catherine avec les sous donnés : aménagement chambre au rez-de-chaussée (sa chambre est au sous-sol), aménagement de la salle de bain, possiblement une rampe d’accès, aussi en raison qu'elle ne pourra pas travailler cette année, cet argent l'aidera  pour l’achat de son ordinateur avant d'entreprendre sa technique en graphisme et aussi pour l’aider à lui redonner un semblant de vie d’adolescente/jeune adulte.

On May 14, three sisters aged 14-19 were crossing a street in the crosswalk when a “distracted” driver failed to notice the stop sign and also violated the pedestrian crossing hitting two of the girls at a speed considerably above the posted limit according to witnesses. 

The 19-yr old suffered relatively minor
injuries : asphalt burns and two sprains. Her 16-yr old sister, Catherine, senior
in the class of 2018 at Triolet High School was not quite so lucky. 

Following the initial impact, Catherine
now suffers serious injuries and will surely have repercussions throughout her life. Among her injuries: open fracture on right foot, 2 pelvic fractures, broken leg (fibula)and 3 open fractures on her left foot, which the doctors nearly had to amputate and it is only thanks to amazing orthopaedic surgeons and the good luck of no infections that she will avoid amputation. 

Following the accident, Catherine has undergone five surgeries under general anesthesia with many more to come. Her dream of being a lifeguard at a local pool this summer was crushed when the car hit her, and she may never regain full use of her left foot. 

Together, please help us support Catherine and her family through this crisis! If people give just $2 each, we will have a nice gift to offer this beautiful young lady so that she may pursue her dreams and face the new challenges that are before her. Among some of the projects the money will be used for : creating a bedroom on the first-floor (hers was in the basement), making the bathroom accessible, possibly building a handicap ramp on the house, and because she will be unable to work this year, helping in the purchase of a computer and other supplies she will need as she undertakes her college studies in Graphic Design. Also, helping her recover somewhat of a normal teenage life with friends, etc.
