Hello my name is Susan Cowie, I am hoping to raise funds for my long time friend’s daughter, son in law and grand children.
The kindness and generosity of this family extends deep into the community and we want to give back to them in this extremely scary and challenging time for them.
On July 30th, Mike Cathrine (38 years old) and his family’s life was turned upside down.
Mike suffered a sudden Cardiac arrest and subsequent heart attack.
Mike returned home from work and collapsed on his front lawn with chest pain.
Subsequent to his collapse, Mike went Into cardiac arrest and was transported via ambulance to Cowichan District hospital where he was later transferred to Royal Jubilee hospital.
Mike received CPR for over an hour in total and was defibrillated 16 times. He had received 2 stents and a large clot was removed from the left anterior descending artery which is a major coronary artery often referred to as the “Widow Maker” due to its critical role in supplying blood to a large portion of the heart.
There is a 2% chance of survival with this serious heart attack and by miracle, Mike survived.
Thanks to the amazing work of Cowichan BC Ambulance Paramedics and CDH staff he will make a full recovery.
Mike is the sole provider of his young family and all income has come to a halt.
He will be unable to work and operate machinery for up to 6 months as his recovery will be long and unpredictable.
I am hoping to raise enough funds for this family to assist them with their road to recovery.
Any contribution helps ❤️
