Catherine Bertram

On Thursday 23rd April 2020, our lives were torn apart. Catherine/Mam was the most fun-loving, amazing, caring and loving woman we’ve ever known and the hole that she has left in our lives will never be filled.

She spent her last 2 weeks being cared for by the wonderful staff in South Tyneside Intensive Care Unit. Having a loved one in intensive care is an awful experience which was made a million times worse by recent restrictions. The staff did everything they could to try and save her, were always happy to speak to us when we rang and most importantly, stayed by her side and held her hand when we were unable to. 

We weren’t allowed to have a donation box at her funeral but we really want to give something back to the wonderful unit that caredfor her.
