On a downward spiral after accidentally destroying her magnum opus, an obsessed artist is dragged into a memory that fuels her desire for catharsis. This film will explore art as a medium for working through past experiences, seeking fulfillment, and exploring unexpected ways to reach it.

Director/ Writer - [Traveler Shaw]

Hi, my name is Traveler Shaw, and I’m a senior at Western Carolina University studying Film and Television production. Catharsis is my final short film project as a student, and I aim to use the culmination of the technical skills I’ve acquired in the past four years to craft a distinct and entertaining visual design for this story. Tyler Martin and I have been friends and collaborators since the first grade, and there’s no better person to help me bring this vision to life. Our entire crew is made up of talented young artists who are passionate about sharing the story with you, and any contribution to this project will go a long way. My name is Tyler Martin, and I’m the director of photography for CATHARSIS, an upcoming independent film directed by my lifelong best friend, Traveler Shaw. We have been making movies together since we were 10 years old, and I think when we work together, we create an experience that is enjoyable for both our crew and audiences. Over the past few years, I have been practicing my cinematography, and this project is a new opportunity to use everything I’ve learned to make my friend's vision come true. It's gonna be a good time!

Producer - [Teri Martin]

Hi! My name is Teri Martin. I am a WNC native and a recent Western Carolina University graduate with two degrees in Psychology and Philosophy. In 2023, I graduated from Southwestern Community College with an Associate of Applied Science in Cosmetology. Since then, I have been working within both the hair and film industry as a hairstylist, makeup artist, and special effects technician. I started my artistry with Traveler and Tyler on short films that we made in high school, and have been a part of their team ever since. Throughout our time together, I have been able to grow into the role of Producer with their encouragement. I have previously produced Eight Lives (2025), Gonzo (2025), and EGO TU MACHINA (2026). My main goal with this production is to keep everything rolling smoothly.

Hi! My name is Leigh Garmon, and I am a recent graduate of the Film and Television program at Western Carolina University. During my time here, I took advantage of the experience to grow my skills as a Producer and 1st Assistant Director.
