Help Save My Cat, Caterpillar

Hi everyone, my name is Bre, and I am reaching out for help for my sweet boy, Caterpillar. He is just 2.5 years old and has recently faced some serious health challenges.

Earlier this week, Caterpillar stopped using the litter box, eating, and drinking. Worried about his condition, I took him to the ER, where he was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection and sent home with antibiotics and pain medication. Unfortunately, his condition worsened, and after a couple of days of close monitoring, I noticed he was still not active, continuing to avoid food and water, and bleeding from his urethra.

I contacted the vet again, and they advised that it was an emergency. When I brought him in, they discovered that his bladder was severely distended, resembling the size of a baseball. After running bloodwork, we received the alarming news: his kidney levels and potassium were extremely elevated, a dangerous situation for any cat.

Caterpillar requires an extended hospital stay, had to get a catheter to help empty his bladder, continuous monitoring, and a treatment regimen involving IV fluids to stabilize him and help restore his health. The total cost of his medical care has been estimated at about $8,000, which is a significant burden for me.
