Since September 2025, I've had some bad luck with house emergencies. A break in the water service line was temporarily fixed. That also led to some electrical work and replacement of my sump pump. There's still a permanent repair to the water service that will cost several thousand dollars on my To Be Done list.
Then a persistent slow drain necessitated another plumber call and finally a hydrojetting to remove roots. My mother paid for that.
And a couple weeks ago, my 20+-year-old fridge died and my mother paid to replace that.
My mother can't help with any more emergencies for a bit and I need to replace my water heater, which is also over 20 years old and about which I've been warned by every plumber in my cellar. I don't have a specific estimate, but others' recent experiences give me a rough idea of $1300 to replace it.
I'm hoping to cover that and catch up on utilities, which are about $1000 behind, between gas (200 USD), electric (710 USD), and sewer/water (120 USD).
I'm mainly establishing this as a way for friends and acquaintances to help out anonymously if they prefer.
