Tyrek Jahfari James, is 20 years of age and resides in Trinidad W.I. A former student of Presentation College San Fernando, where he played the part of goalkeeper on the schools's football team. During this time he represented the school in the Secondary School Football League (SSFL) and many other competions.
A talented goal keeper and a wonderful young man.
In February 2015, he was chosen to go to Honduras and Panama with Trinidad and Tobago's National Under 17 football team.
Football is his passion, and not just participating in the sport, learning about it also. He knows basically everything about every player, team and historic moments etc. He is honest, hardworking, respectful and loved by everyone who meets him. He aspires to be a sports physiotherapist.
Throughtout his life he has suffered with the comings and goings of a cold in his head. For this he always had a menthol inhaler at hand. In case of spur of the moment discomfort. Unknowing that he would be terribly affected in years to come. So bad that his eyesight would be jeopardized.
In April of 2018 the complaints of not being able to see began. He thought is was due to a lash he received whilst at work. Not knowing it was due to steroids in the inhaler he was using for such a long time. Which mind you was not listed on its label.
On Wednesday 31st July he visited the Trinidad Eye Hospital where several tests were done. Here, he was diagnosed with bilateral cataracts with reduced vision. At 20 years old. The doctors agreed that immediate surgery is needed.
As the cataract progresses he gets closer to being completely blind. At the moment the partial blindness affects his ability to perform his daily activities and puts his personal safety at risk. Because of this he becomes very frustrated and depressed. It is also very strenuous for him to work.
Our goal is $5000.00 USD. And it is recommended that he the operation done as soon as possible.
So today, I ask you to donate generously to helping Tyrek to regain full use of his eyes so that he may continue towards his hopes and dreams. He has his entire life ahead of him and this set back has crippled his freedom, sense of safety and hope. I want him to be able to live and enjoy life to the fullest with limiting the most basic function - Sight.
