It’s hard to pinpoint the time that made me believe that the hot dog was the quintessential food for all. I do know when I decided that I wanted to share this love with everyone.
I’ve been an active member of the Hospitality Industry for nearly 20 years. Over this time I have, on a daily basis, done what every Hospitalian does, which is put the attention and focus on the guest. Since 2016, I have been in Hospitality Management, which has allowed me to focus not only on guests but on meeting the needs of a team. During this time, I have relocated, found love, and started a family. I’ve devoted hundreds of hours to the needs of others—and now, through the pandemic and two furloughs, I’ve made a choice for my family.
We’re getting into the Hot Dog business.
Catalyst Hot Dogs - Classic. Delicious. Food For Everyone.
I do not know what the future holds for restaurants, but I do know that we all need to eat. The idea is simple: roving trailer, safe outdoor dining. Slinging Dogs wherever we can. Bringing fun, classic service without any pretension. We’ll be operating out of a stand-in concession trailer and floating around the DMV. Catering, delivery—and, when large gatherings return, we will be setting up at local farmers markets and parties. Wherever there is a need for a Hot Dog, we’ll be there.
If you’re reading this, chances are that we have spent some time together. If so, you know that I hold my birthplace dear to my heart: The Great State of New Jersey. I think of many things when I think of home but the top three are: Springsteen, Diners & Hot Dogs. On any trip home, I can guarantee you that all three of those boxes are checked off.
Help Bring the Classic Jersey Dog to the DMV!
It is my goal to bring the feeling of a classic Jersey Dog stand to you. This is why I am asking for your contributions to our capital fundraising program. Your donation will be allocated towards the initial start up and operational costs which have been carefully considered. Your contribution will allow us to get the wheels on the ground and the dogs on the grill.
We have a cart which is ready to be ours, branding, and social media ready and all permits/licensing pending approval. All that’s left is your support.
I’d imagine you’re wondering, ‘Why Catalyst?’ It’s a very simple story. When my oldest brother, Michael, passed in 2012 we were fortunate to see many family and friends who shared lots of stories with us. During that time, one of his dear friends shared with me that Mikey wanted to open a coffee/bagel shop and call it The Catalyst. A catalyst is defined as a person or thing that precipitates an event. To use it in a sentence, ‘Man, this Hot Dog was the catalyst for a fantastic day!’
