Our story is not dissimilar to a lot of people and business owners who have had their commercial and employment lives disrupted by the Coronavirus which has affected us all in some way.
Lots of assistance promised, no rent assistance, no bank assistance, but really in the end it just came down to nothing but hard work and hope that one day things might return to what we know as normal.
We are a generational family business, who have been honored to feed the people of Perth for over 40 years with our quality Italian food and hospitality.
We survived through the support of our loyal customers, who supported us through takeaway business, for which we thank them for their loyalty and assistance in this difficult time.
On the 28th May, two days after the restrictions we were fined $6000 for having more than 20 people in the restaurant, allegedly in breach of the regulations.
Despite trying to explain to all three Police Officers (who ironically arrived standing side by side obviously breaching social distancing guidelines) we were fined $6000.
Square metres, divided rooms, sit down, stand up, takeaway… if anyone says that they understood the law and its application during these times, then they smart than we are!
We’re for truth, no matter who tells it. I’m for justice, no matter who it’s for or against. We are human beings first and foremost, and as such we should be for whoever and whatever benefits humanity as a whole (Malcolm X). And that’s not fining small, hardworking and locally owned businesses in times of struggle.
We need everyone to get behind us as we take the matter to Court.
We have a solid case and have been approached by a well-known legal representative to take the case on. As you know this costs money.
We are requesting your assistance to get behind this cause and back your local businesses in times of need.
Life was never meant to be easy, but it was never meant to be made so hard either.
