Help Jubilee Live Pain Free After Confinement

Sweet, adoptable Jubilee needs your help to receive a life changing surgery!

Jubilee, nicknamed "Lulu" by her foster mom, was kept crated on an apartment balcony in San Francisco for 2 years before she was rescued by FDR. She was extremely stressed and fearful when she arrived at our shelter and cowered in a corner avoiding eye contact.

One year later she is a different dog. Her foster parents call her, “Lulu the laughing pibble” because she is such a happy, warm, loving, little soul with the most wonderful smile!

After being left outside in a crate for two years Lulu is so grateful to be inside in the warm with her foster family and to have the run of the house. She constantly checks in, “Is everything OK, am I being a good dog?” (she always is!) and looks for ways to be helpful. Her many (self appointed) duties include gopher hunting (but not catching…), washing her foster brother's face and ears while he is trying to sleep, lying in the precise middle of any area in the yard that is being weeded or planted, preferably on the tools, keeping an eye on her foster mom to make sure she doesn’t get lost in the house and riding shotgun in the truck keeping an eye out for the CHP.  OK, deer, but she never takes her eyes off the road!

After all that confinement Lulu desperately wants to run, jump and play. She has years of fun to catch up on! Unfortunately she can’t do that because she has torn the cruciate ligaments in both her hind legs and is very lame. She hunches her back to try and avoid putting weight on her legs, but of course she can’t. At times her right leg is so sore she tries to avoid moving it at all. The swelling in her knees also prevents her from sitting down properly. She hovers a few inches above the floor or she finds someone or something to sit on as a chair, it usually ends up being her foster brother, Jasper (see photo)!

Lulu already had the knee injuries when she came to us, but they have gotten progressively worse. Jubilee has seen an orthopedic surgeon who says that her knees will continue to deteriorate unless she gets TPLO surgery. Think two bionic knee joints! Her lameness also makes it very hard for her to find a forever home because the surgeries are expensive (around $3,800) and more than most adopters can afford - no matter how much they would love to have her. (Bill Gates already has a dog). However if a lot of people chip in it can be done! Lulu will be out of pain for the first time in years, able to play with her stuffed red lobster again (Yay!) and - so important - find her people. They are out there somewhere in desperate need of a laughing pibble but they just don’t know it yet!

Thank you so much for your support. Please share with all your friends so we can get Jubilee the help that she needs! Let's show this smiling, sweet Pittie girl some love!
