I am Cat’s cousin and I wanted to create this GoFundMe to support Cat with the medical bills associated with Logan’s hospitalization for pneumonia, as I know that Cat would not solicit funds herself. It was felt Logan had a 70% chance of making a full recovery, so it made sense to continue treatment as long as he was remaining stable and showing even small signs of improvement. Cat has always made medical decisions for her fur kids, not based on cost, but based on chance of success and quality of life. Because of that, Cat works incredibly hard and stewards her resources wisely to take care of her fur family. God has entrusted her with some amazing animals. At the same time, many of them have required significant medical care. Personally, I think God entrusted them to her because He knew she would ensure they got the care needed.
Unfortunately, Logan took a turn for the worse this past Tuesday and he died. The only thing worse than a large ER bill, is having that bill without your beloved fur kid. Cat has faced some significant financial challenges this past year that many may not be aware of. Her horse Diego required back surgery, and her dog Mia required surgery for a torn ACL. Then the biggest hit came: She learned that her property was flooding due to alterations made by multiple neighbors after her property was evaluated by Waller County Extension Service. It is highly unlikely neighbors will make modifications that will remedy the situation, so her best option is to move. Given the damage to her property, she will likely take a loss on the house. That is so heartbreaking to me because she worked so hard to pay off her home early and stay out of debt. Now, she is losing the value of that investment and facing the financial uncertainty of our current economy needing to take on a new mortgage. This seems so incredibly unfair.
While I cannot fix her housing situation or bring Logan back, it is my earnest prayer that together we can at least remove the burden of Logan’s ER bill from her shoulders. Cat would be the first one to tell you to pray about the decision and only do so if you are financially able to help. If funds exceed the need, a donation will made to Sav-a-Pet, which is the rescue organization that Logan came from.
