At three months old, Cat King Cole's soothing trilling voice won me over and my heart melted when I picked him up at the shelter and he began kissing my hand. He opened my heart after a trying year, and I am thankful for the "sandpaper" facials he gives me each-and-every day, his snuggle time spent snoozing on my chest, his playfulness and care of his new sister Lady Echo, and that voice that sounds like butter!
Ten days before Christmas, I noticed Cole seemed a little down and wasn't eating as he should. What I thought was to be a typical vet visit (antibiotics given for a simple upper respiratory infection) quickly became something far more complicated. Radiographs, blood draws, ultrasound, liver biopsy, and a lot of meds with vet visits each week before we got to the most likely diagnosis on Wednesday, January 11.
At 10 months of age, Cat King Cole is fighting to get healthy and battling what is most likely dry FIP.
FIP is a viral disease that causes a mutation from FeCV making white blood cells become infected with the virus and spreading it throughout a cat's body. It is difficult to diagnose as there is no definitive test. The good news: there is a medicine that has shown progress and a "cure" for many cats. The bad news: it is an expensive lengthy process (84 days of viral medication, costing roughly $35-$50 per day, as well as three blood tests to be conducted at 30, 60, and 90 days).
I will be moving forward to get Cat King Cole better, but we need your help! After the already $3,000 this past month to get to this ultimate diagnosis, I need your support to save my "Unforgettable" feline friend. Any donation is appreciated and goes towards FIP medicine, vet visits, and general care as we fight FIP, keeping Cole happy and healthy, snuggled with me and his favorite sister Lady Echo. We thank you for your support!
