Cat Island Community Marching Band

Please join me in raising money for the newly formed Cat Island Community Marching band. I had the privilege of hearing the band during a recent practice. I was overwhelmed by the excitement and talent of the kids. Their energy is infectious. The marching band is inclusive of all from the north, central and south constituencies of Cat Island and being lead by music teacher Cpl Storr. This program will provide the members with more than music lessons; they will be developing responsibility, self-discipline, time-management, teamwork, leadership, higher level reasoning skills and building strong bonds. Furthermore, it will contribute to the growth and development of the immediate community which will contribute to the overall development. The band's objective is to:
- Provide a positive, disciplined and nurturing environment to its members.
- Build productive citizens and a better Bahamas through music.
- Grant students the opportunity to fulfill community service hours.
- Assist students in acquiring scholarships to attend university.
- Gain skills that will last a life time.
- Provide musical needs to the school and community in the form of Wind instruments Percussions Flaget’s and Organize Dance.
The band received a donation of horns and woodwinds but is in need of percussion instruments. The donation to purchase percussion instruments will be made on behalf of our good friend "Dodger" With Dodger's recent passing , the donation will honor his life's work as an educator, cultural iconic drummer and Rake n Scrape master.
