Cat Colony - 6 Kittens Need Homes Belmont Heights

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Shaina Popkin. On my way home from work 2 months ago, I noticed a stray cat crossing Broadway & Grand Ave. in Belmont Heights. He looked like he was hurt and a neighbor said there are quite a few feral cats in this area. So I started leaving food and water out in the afternoons. Then I stumbled upon the mecca of feral cats at 228 Grande Ave, a light blue craftsman house. There are over 10 cats/kittens here all of which are not spayed/neutered so a year from now, this number could be 2x...3x or more! Many have not survived because of the busy intersection and a neighbor threatens to kill them (disgusting, I know...).

These cats just need to be spayed/neutered and the problem can finally end for the neighborhood. I have met many neighbors over the last 2 months who agree it's an eyesore and a problem...well this is your opportunity to help! ANYTHING HELPS!!! The kittens are 3 months old, If you can adopt/foster a kitten that would be the biggest help! If you cannot, please donate towards costs of spay/neuter. Vouchers from the city are only $60 and help but the cost of the vet visit for the adults was an average of $550 at Spring Animal Hospital who can see them next day if I trap an adult. The kittens I can take to a lower cost S/N place because they are in my home and easier to coordinate appointments. Once an adult is trapped they are WILD and need to be taken next day or released- if they are released we may never trap them again.

This week I trapped 4 kittens and 2 adults (with the help of Renee, Daniel, Hiller and Joan huge shoutout!). The kittens are staying at my home in Carroll Park until they can be fostered/ adopted. I cannot keep them long term, I have 2 of my own already. I work full time, I'm not associated with any charity presently and so far I have paid for these Spay/Neuter appointments with my own money because I can't bear the thought of the cats multiplying AGAIN.

Anything left over after the vet bills are taken care of will NOT be kept! I will donate 100% of the additional funds to Little Lion Foundation, a local Long Beach cat charity that does amazing work! Thank you for any support you can give!
