My name is Gerry McCarthy I am one of the founding members of Castleblayney Boxing Club for the last 19years. We have moved premises now 5 times. And have recently lost our last premises on the Dublin Road as the building has been designated as a new Special Needs School for children. So we are now on the look out for something affordable to train our 40 members with a waiting list of 30 children wanting to join. Over the last 19years we have achieved 13 All Ireland Medals and 1 European Medal. But without a club we will have to close the club. We are currently using a neighbouring boxing club to train and have had to hire out rooms with no boxing facilities to try and train the boxers that are currently active boxers. We hope to raise enough funds to help towards getting a new premises to keep the club going and allow more children to join.
