Hi friends, family & strangers,
Early of February this year, my little sister (and mother of 2) was admitted to the hospital after experiencing stroke-like symptoms, which was diagnosed as a Hemiplegic Migraine. This led to a series of tests that revealed a small tumor on her spine believed to have been causing the migraines. She was scheduled for surgery immediately & the tumor was removed, sent for testing & came back negative for cancer (thankfully).
She was released from the hospital once she got the green light from her doctors & was well on her way to recovery & doing painful therapy 3 hours a day, when it all took a turn for the worst. It seemed that she was leaking CSF (Cerebral Spine Fluid) from her incision & was asked to return to the hospital immediately, only to discover that they had to go back in, reopen the incision & find the leak. After a second surgery, the Dr was unable to find where the believed CSF was leaking from & had to close her back up without fixing the problem. Although, he was hopeful that the leaking would stop.
About 48 hours later, she began leaking from the incision once again & has been going through rigorous & extremely painful tests to find the source of the leak. At this moment, Cassy, the Doctors, our family & friends are all feeling the frustration of not knowing what is going on. Until they find out more, she will remain in the hospital with very little time spent out of bed.
For those of you who know Cassy, she is the first one to show up and help someone when they are in need. She is an excellent Registered Nurse, mother, wife, daughter & sister. She does things & never asks for anything in return.
This whole experience has been tough & she has managed to keep her spirits high & positive, but the weight of not being able to hold her 1 year old, or be there for her 6 year old when he needs his mommy is taking a toll.
I think it’s time to give back to someone who never asks for help & deserves it. That is why I put together this GoFundMe. Because she won’t ask for help, but I will.
With this fund, I hope to alleviate some of the stress of costs associated with her inability to work, such as their rent, food, gas, and most importantly hospital bills that are racking up very quickly.
Any amount helps & is greatly appreciated!
I will be posting updates through here occasionally, so that all of you are in the loop.
Thank you so very much in advance.
