This campaign is for 16-year old Cassie Ciccarelli. Cassie is a beautiful young child filled with faith in her Lord, kindness of spirit, and courage. She is an extremely talented singer and songwriter who sings in the high school choir, and is on the worship team at her church. Her life should be focused on friends, proms, graduations and college. Instead, Cassie faces the biggest challenge of her life as she fights cancer.
Her story begins before Christmas, 2015, when she began experiencing pain in her back that was becoming progressively worse. After many doctor visits and tests, it was found that Cassie has a 4.5 cm tumor on her spine. She was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma ON HER 16TH BIRTHDAY! After further painful testing they found out that the cancer had spread to her spleen and other parts of her body. She will go in for surgery on Tuesday to install a port for chemo. She will be in the hospital for at least 2 weeks, maybe longer, and treatments will likely continue for a minimum of 4-5 months.
Because Cassie’s mom has been by her side 24/7, Lauren no longer has a job. She is a single mother of 3 children. The hospital has helped her to obtain Medicaid in order to help meet the medical expenses that are mounting. Her other children are safe, staying with Lauren’s siblings and their families, who are trying to keep their lives as normal as possible, under such trying circumstances. Cassie’s family was struggling financially, before this tragedy hit her family.
This tragedy has devastated their entire family. I ask for your help in any way you are able to give. Every dollar will help bring this family back together and establish some sense of normal through this difficult time. I hope you will join me in letting them know that they are not alone in this journey. If you are not able to give financially, please keep Cassie and her family in your prayers.
I will update this page frequently. God bless you for taking the time to read Cassie’s story and for your support.
