Cassie needs your help after extreme fall injury
Donation protected
My name is Emelia and I’m making this on behalf of my friend and roommate, Cassie.
Cassie is a recent graduate of Temple University and just received her degree in recreational therapy. She has a passion for helping those with disabilities and was preparing to start her second summer at Variety – The Children’s Charity of the Delaware Valley when she suffered a bad fall and completely dislocated her ankle. The dislocation caused the bone to break through the skin which ruptured every major tendon in the process. She was given an external fixator - which contains pins that are drilled into the ankle bones - to keep her ankle stabilized.

The severe nature of her injury has made moving around extremely difficult for her; the apartment we live in has twenty stairs leading up to the front door, so she will be unable to go outside for quite a while and will likely not be able to work at all for the next 2-3 months. After this, regular physical therapy will be necessary to help her be able to walk without support. The lease for our apartment is ending soon and we are planning to move to an apartment with better access to transportation and fewer stairs. Cassie being Cassie, she is keeping a positive attitude and continues to make all the nurses laugh at her in-home visits. We are very grateful that we have been able to support her and help her with meals and moving around the house, but she has a long journey ahead and there is only so much we can do.
Because she will be unable to work, we are looking to raise $2,000 to help pay for medical bills (physical therapy, in home visits, and her next surgery), home bills (rent, electric), and moving costs. We would greatly appreciate any amount you can give, no matter how small. Thank you for taking the time to read and for your support!
