Cassie in ICU in South Africa
Last week Cassie was admitted in to ICU here in South Africa with COVID Pneumonia. This has come at a huge cost to us as our insurance doesn't cover COVID illness. Cassie has been suffering with Fibromyalgia and so this chronic condition has also complicated the COVID illness.
As you may know we moved to South Africa in 2019 to serve LIV Durban as volunteers.
Up until recently Cassie, has been serving full time as a teacher and the HOD for the Intermediate Phase in the school.
We don't have a lot of money, insurance doesn’t cover hospital fees so this expense is something we could not account for.
Our current bill is R95,000 (£4, 750) and Doctors have advised Cassie still has at least another 5 days in hospital. Plus there may be other costs of treatment when Cassie is released.
If you can support us in any way in this tough season then we would seriously appreciate any penny you can spare.
