As many of you are now aware, a senseless act of pure evil struck my family recently. We are asking for your help to help us support the only surviving family member, a 20 year old college student. If you aren't up to date on the exact circumstances, Here is our story:
Dwayne Hanson was born in Chicago, IL to Jerry and Patricia Hanson.
Samantha Hambrice was born in New Orleans, LA and adopted by George and Bernie Hambrice.
Sam moved to Chicago for a job where she met Dwayne and fell madly in love. They were married in 1991. After deciding to expand their family, they were blessed with identical twins in 1996, Sydney Nicole and Cassidy Taylor Hanson. After living in Chicago for years, Samantha decided it was time to move closer to her family in South Louisiana. They moved in 2009 and started working at Laitram Machine Shop in Harahan, LA. They also became very active and enthusiastic members in The NOLA Social Ride group. Sydney was a junior in college where she was pursuing her nursing career, with goals to be a Labor and Delivery Nurse. Cassidy is a Junior in college pursuing a kinesiology degree, with goals to be a PE teacher/coach.
Sydney met a guy in Baton Rouge and they started dating in 2015. Sydney found out she was pregnant and the relationship took a rocky turn. He became very controlling, abusive, and even threatening. After a verbal altercation with Dwayne, where he was told he wasn't allowed to see Sydney, he, the ex, vandalized Dwayne's truck and made threats to the family. That's when they decided to seek police intervention and a Protective Order was filed. Things seemed to settle down for a few weeks, and then on the morning of November 7th, 2016 as Sydney, 7 months pregnant with a baby girl, was getting ready for a baby shower, when she was attacked, stabbed to death, and set on fire. Police later found the Protective Order under Sydney's body. At some point soon after the initial attack, Sam and Dwayne arrived home for lunch where they were viciously and brutally attacked as well. Dwayne died after sustaining 2 gunshot wounds and Sam was fatally wounded with 20-25 stab wounds and 5 gunshot wounds, and then the fire spread throughout the house destroying almost all of the contents.
Cassidy, Sydney's twin, is the only surviving immediate family member and she is only left with what was in her dorm room at the time. So we are asking for financial assistance to help Cassidy replace her belongings and with her educational, living, and medical expenses, as Cassidy has epilepsy and requires extensive monitoring.
No amount is too small, and any thing you can give would be greatly appreciated.
