On December 30, 2023 I became a great aunt to a beautiful baby boy, Cassian Allen Ashley. Unfortunately Cassian took a turn for the worse 2 days after he was born and had to be rushed to the children’s NICU hospital in Jacksonville. What we know: they had to put in a chest tube to drain the fluid that is leaking into the sac around his lungs. The specialists are not sure why or what it is from, but they are leaning towards this very rare condition called Chylothorax and only one out of 15,000 babies this occurs in. He has already had one surgery to help fix this, with the possibility of more in the future.

It is going to be a long road ahead for Cassian and his parents. Patrick and Morgan have not left his side, and don’t plan on it until he can come home with them! Cassian will be in the NICU hospital for at least a couple of months.The outcome is still unclear but we are praying and hoping for a miracle.

With all that being said Patrick and Morgan will be out of work while Cassian remains in the NICU, so they can continue to be by their beautiful boys side while he fights. Any dontations made are greatly appreciated and will take some of the stress off Patrick and Morgan and allow them to focus on getting their little boy healthy and home.
